Some of fashion's rising stars were given the spotlight that they so very much deserve at the CFDA awards at Lincoln Center. The prestigious award celebrates the best and brightest American designers who have set the bar for innovative, yet timeless design. The ceremony is always a mini fashion show in itself, and this year was no exception. Winners of the night included Billy Reid (Menswear Designer of the Year), Reed Krakoff (Accessory Designer of the Year), Rei Kawakubo (International Award) and Scott Schuman and Garance Dore (Media Award).
But the biggest award of the night was presented to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the genius minds behind their label The Row. This win may have struck some as surprising or even a little premature, but their talent cannot be denied. One of my absolute favorite fashion bloggers, Garance Dore, accepted her award with these words, "take your fun very seriously... and maybe one day you will start a revolution." Well said.
